How about another Jomo Kenyatta?
Not letting opportunity pass, the death of Gatundu South MP – who took
over from President Uhuru – has opened up another opportunity for
another Jomo Kenyatta to get into the national political limelight.
A source near State House informed a local blog site that President Uhuru’s eldest son, Jomo Kenyatta, whose friends often just call Mo’ Kenyatta, has already been earmarked byThe National Alliance party to replace the late Jossy Ngugi who passed on yesterday.
The entry of Jomo III may mark another road to the presidency by a filial of the founding president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
This may seem far fetched but the rise of President Uhuru kenyatta from
political obscurity just a decade to the presidency adds credence to it,
nor is the Kenyatta family so naive to stay away from power – they have
everything to lose if the do so, and, on the other hand, everything to
gain both for the family and the populous Kikuyu community.
Jomo III will start relatively ahead of Jomo II [the current president]
whom former President Moi had to pluck from many “things” nominate, and
‘bless’ in a project 2002 which was defeated by NARC, only for it to
reincarnate after the 2005 referendum and forcefully get back as early
as 2007 elections.
But the boy, who turned 18 [or will] this year has got other
achievements to his name. From Kenya’s royal family, Mo Kenyatta
recently launched his mitumba cloth-line at Villa Rosa Kempenski in a
‘launch’ which was attended by more Indians/Asians than native Africans,
leave alone his Kikuyu backyard of Gatundu South.
By the way, he will also become the youngest MP in Kenya, of course if he decides to go for it.
