While Alfred Mutua is all about new ambulances and police cars, which seemed to capture the whole country’s attention yet that is what he is supposed to be doing, Dubai is on to the NEXT LEVEL
in terms of police patrol cars. And no one is bagging about it.
The Dubai police fleet is getting bigger, faster, and even more ridiculously expensive. Apparently a Kshs. 38 million Lamborghini Aventador was only the beginning, because the list of on-duty exotic cars in this millionaires’ playground has recently grown to include Bentleys, Ferraris, a Kshs. 120 million Aston Martin super car and the super car of super cars : Bugatti Veyron at around Kshs. 160 million each
If you plan on trying to outrun the police in Dubai, get ready to receive a 200+mph pass directly to jail. The Dubai police force is adding a glittering assortment of exotic cars to its fleet, including an Aston Martin One-77 hyper-car.
The little math I know shows that a single Aston can buy almost 50 Corollas customized for police use. Also in the mix are cars like a KShs. 17 million Bentley Continental GT coupe and the four-wheel-drive Ferrari FF, which happens to cost a cool 26 million Kenyatta coins.
At least the Bentley and Ferrari both have backseats for stowing extra police stuff, or the occasional bad guy.
That’s hell of a lot more than you can say about the Dubai force’s choice of a Lamborghini Aventador or Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Combined, these two supercars would set you back roughly 52 million for the pair.
The fact that these have bucket seats instead of a backseat, or even doors that don’t open conventionally, apparently didn’t bother the U.A.E. capital’s number crunchers. The scissor-doors on the wedge-shaped Lambo, and the gullwing-style ones found on the sultry Benz should look mightily impressive…unless they happen to be approaching (extremely fast!) in your rear-view mirror.
Even the lowliest member of the fleet, a V-8-powered Chevrolet Camaro, would be extremely cool – except in this exclusive company, the mean-looking Chevy muscle car looks downright ratchet.
