Police have arrested a man behind the Thika Road bus terror attacks on Sunday that left four people dead and over 82 injured.
The man, who was identified as Kenfix Odhiambo
from Marurui Estate, off Thika Road, was arrested by Anti Terror Police Unit
(ATPU), who raided his home on Tuesday night.
Odhiambo, 36, was arrested with his wife and two
sisters who are assisting police with more information.
Kasarani Police boss, Augustine Nthumbi, on
Wednesday said Odhiambo had been identified by boda boda operators as the person who jumped out of the bus and
fled on a motorcycle after the accident.
Odhiambo sustained injuries in the explosion
that shocked many Kenyans.
He had however not sought medical attention by
the time of his arrest on Tuesday evening.
Bomb experts from the CID department have
established that the Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) that exploded in the
two buses were detonated using a mobile phone.
“Odhiambo’s mobile phone was used to detonate
one of the IEDS,” One bomb expert said.
Also passengers in the one of the buses said the
attacks were carried out by criminals not of Somali origin.
Were they Al Shabaab recruits? We will wait to
hear from ATPU.
